Proposed Site
Lanreath Solar farm is the proposed solar power plant that would cover a fairly large area of rural Cornwall.
The solar fields themselves would be approximately 100 acres in area at Bocaddon Farm near Lanreath.
The entire project, including cabling, electronics and batteries, stretches across an unspoiled area of countryside, impacting on both on Lanreath and neighbouring Pelynt.
This site borders on the B3359, the main route to Looe/Polperro/Bodinnick from East Taphouse and West Taphouse. Running North-South, the site extends approximately 3/4 of a mile from the lane signposted Churchbridge/Duloe to the bottom of the hill known locally as Rattlestreets.
To the east of the site is an area of woodland belonging to Trevawden and Blackdown farms with a stream which eventually connects with the West Looe River running through Muchlarnick. These very busy roads will be impacted during construction and maintenance.
The proposed area is adjacent to 27 acres of unspoilt, ancient, temperate rainforest woodland on the upper reaches of the West Looe river systems which forms part of a bio-diverse wildlife corridor.
